I’ve always thought, and still do, that affiliate marketing is the very best way for a newbie to start a profitable online business. You can start for free, or very cheap and you don’t have to worry about finding products to sell, or shipping, or returns. The merchant takes care of all that.
But I think the problem is that many people make it sound easier than it really is. No, I’m not contradicting myself. It is one of the easiest ways to start a business, but that doesn’t mean that there is no learning curve at all. I think this is where a lot of people get discouraged and give up. And that’s a shame.
People need to understand what affiliate marketing is and what it isn’t. Yes it is a real business model that you can start for next to nothing and grow as big as you want. No, it’s not a winning lottery ticket. You have to work at it. Consistently. I know I preach consistency a lot, but I think this concept is really missing in a lot of online businesses, affiliate marketing included.
Everyone dreams of becoming that super affiliate who makes 6 figures a month and you can, but you need to expect that it will take some time and you will need to learn some skills in marketing.
