Don’t Do This If You Want To Make Money On The Internet…

images-money

If you want to make money on the Internet there are 3 basic things you have to look out for.  If you follow these simple guidelines you can be making money online quickly.  How quickly?  I don’t know, that depends on you: on how consistent you are with your business, and how closely you follow these rules.

1) Don’t skip on your education.  The Internet is not all that different from the offline world in one major way: you won’t make money if you don’t know how.  You wouldn’t expect to be hired on as the president of some company if you have no knowledge or experience in that field  would you?

So why is it that so many people don’t bother to educate themselves on Internet marketing techniques?  So many people just jump in without gaining any knowledge first and they wonder why they don’t succeed.  Educate yourself first.  It won’t take long and you can earn while you learn, but if you skip this step you will never earn anything but headaches.

2) Don’t jump from one ’sure thing’ to another.  This relates to the point above.  If you don’t educate yourself, you won’t know what to do, you won’t make any money, you will get discouraged and be very susceptible to all the scammers out there who say you can get something for nothing.

When you get frustrated and desperate you have just become scammer bait.  They thrive on taking advantage of people who are desperate and frustrated.  A lot of that can be avoided if you educate yourself, pick one business to run, and stick with it.  I can’t guarantee how long it will take to make money if you follow these rules, but I can guarantee you won’t make any money if you don’t!

3) Don’t treat your business like a hobby.  If you really want to make money online the name of the game is consistency.  It doesn’t require you to invest a ton of hours every week, although that will speed things up if you can, but you have to invest the time consistently every day or every week.

Even if it’s only 3 hours a week if you do it every week you will see results.  It will take longer than if you were investing 3 hours a day, but you can still get there.  Just do it consistently.

Follow these guidelines about education, consistency and avoiding jumping ship at the first sign of rough seas, and you can make money online  from home.  You really can make more online in a shorter time than in any other way I know of as long as you do it the right way and don’t expect something for nothing.  Good luck!

3 Things To Avoid If You Want To Make Money Quick Online

OK, we’ve all heard the incredible stories that you can make money quick online, but you have to be wondering to yourself…is it true?  Well there is good news and bad news.

The good news is that you can make money quick online, depending on how much money you want to make, what you consider quick and how much time and effort you’re willing to put into the process.

The bad news it that no one else will do it for you. No matter how good their website looks or how intriguing their offer is you don’t get something for nothing.

In the real world no one would fall for a business opportunity where someone said that if you paid them a hundred dollars they would build and run your business and then  pay you.

Yet on the Internet people fall for that type of thing all the time.  Why?  Is it because the Internet is still new enough to seem almost magical?  Like normal rules don’t apply and anyone can get filthy rich with little to no work or previous experience?

Here are three of the most common mistakes you can make when starting an online business:

1) Believe that it will happen overnight or that someone else will do all the work for you and than pay you.  If you think about it that just doesn’t make any sense.  If they’re doing the work anyway why would they share the profit with someone else?  Would you?

2) Not take the time to learn how to effectively market online.  So many people will get involved in a program, throw up a website or blog and not know the first thing about how to market it (get people to visit their website).

No matter what product or service you are trying to make money quick online with you need qualified traffic on an ongoing basis to your website.  You need to learn how to get that traffic and to do that you need to know a little about Internet marketing.

Learn this important step first and then you can start to make money quick online.  If you skip this step you will probably never make any money online or at least only make very little.

3) Don’t bounce around from one ’sure thing’ to the next.  Find one program and stick with it. I can’t stress that enough.  It’s so tempting online to jump ship and look for the next great ‘opportunity’.

Especially when everyone is telling you that you can be making a ton of cash in just 24 hours or 1 week, or whatever.  I’ve fallen for it myself, more times than I care to remember.  Just find one system and stick with it!

So, yes, you can make money quick online.  But you will need to learn how to do it first, and you can’t allow yourself to be sidetracked.  Pick one system and stick with it!

What is Keyword Research?

What Is Keyword Research?

No matter what type of online business you have if you need to drive traffic to a website, you will need to spend a lot of your work day doing keyword research.  But what, and how, are you researching?

In a nutshell you want to find laser targeted keywords that are associated with your niche.   You want long tailed keywords (keywords with 3 or more words) because they tend to have less competition than one or two word keywords yet still get quite a few searches every month.

A good or excellent keyword will have at least 500 searches a month, obviously the higher the search amount the better.  You also want the keyword to have low competition less than 20,000.  The lower the amount of competition and the higher the amount of search volume is what you want in a good keyword.

Just remember: High Search Volume + Low Competition = Good Keyword.

There are some software programs you can get that can help you compile good keyword lists or you can use some excellent free resources such as Google’s Adwords Keyword Tool .

Here is a step by step method for finding top quality keywords:

1. Use the link above to go to Google’s keyword tool.

2.  Enter your keyword phrase into the box.  At this point it’s ok to start with a broad term.  For example, if you’re niche is about house training your Rottweiler, for now just enter the term housebreaking dog, or something fairly generic. Eventually you will become more targeted but start out general and see what comes up on the list.

3. Once you’ve got a list of some keywords start scrolling down the list and look for phrases that have a reasonable about of traffic, at least 500 searches a month.

4. If you have a software program that will compile the data for you, great, just upload the Google results into your software program.  If not you can do it by hand for free.  Just take each keyword phrase that has a decent amount of monthly searches (for the most part you’d be wish to ignore the phrases that have thousands of searches since they are more than likely going to have way, way too many competitors) copy it, open another Google window, paste that keyword phrase into the new window with quotes, and do a search.  The number you get back will tell you how much competition that keyword has.  You’ll want to stick with those keywords that have less than 20,000 in competition.

5. When you find good keywords copy and paste them into a notepad file and save them.  Ideally you want at least 20 keywords that fit into these parameters.  As  you start building your list you’ll think of other phrases that may work for your niche too.

Traffic is the back bone of any online business and a good keyword list could be worth it’s weight in gold.  Finding keywords is one of the most important things you can do to insure the success of your online business, don’t try to skimp or skip on this step.

No matter how you choose to learn to do keyword research, just make sure you learn.    Don’t guess as to which keyword will work best for you .   There are some easy to follow guidelines that, while not foolproof, will give you success more often than not.

Learn How To Make Money Online…

Lots of people, more everyday, dream of quitting their job, starting an online business and make money online.  It is very possible to do and most people will be able to make more online than they are making at their job.

But if it’s so easy, why isn’t everyone doing it?  The reason there aren’t more Internet millionaires (and there are more new millionaires every year from an online business than with any other segment of the population)  is because people have an unrealistic idea of what it means to make money online.

There are too many programs out there that promise almost instant wealth with virtually no work.  That is the number 1 lie told on the Internet.

Building a massive online business is much easier and quicker than a traditional brick and mortar business, but that doesn’t mean it’ll happen overnight with no effort.

Even very intelligent people can get caught up in the hype.  Once they don’t make a  lot of money overnight they either quit or get lured into the next great program.  It goes on like that until one of 3 things happens:

1) They get discouraged and give up on their dreams of an online business altogether or,

2) They don’t have any more money to invest in the next ’sure thing’ and give up or,

3)  They wise up, realize that success can be achieved and start investing in some education and not the next ’sure thing’.  Then they take their new found Internet marketing knowledge and  put it to work on a consistent basis.  And guess what?  They learn how to make money online!

So there is no time like the present to pick option #3.  Especially if you are just starting out.  Invest in educating yourself and consistently put into use your constantly growing knowledge of Internet marketing.

Run away screaming from any program that ‘guarantees’ you’ll make money practically overnight with no work.   The only guarantee they are really  making  is that if you want a refund you’ll get one.  They don’t guarantee your success.  They can’t.  They have no idea if you will even work at the business.

Do don’t let yourself end up in option 1 or 2.  Be a 3!  You’ll be glad you did!

Let Your Personality Shine If You Want To Earn Money Online…

We all know that the Internet can be kind of cold.  We also know that to be successful in business you need to have people trust you.  One of the best ways to do that is to let them get to know you.

For the most part your internet business isn’t real personal. You don’t usually have any real one on one contact with the people on your list.  It’s not like you call them all on the phone once a week.    So how do you let people know who you are and show them that they can trust you?

Well the most common way you communicate with them is through your copy.   Whether it’s emails, a sales page, a blog post, etc.   It is your copy that is letting people get to know you.

The problem is that so many people online seem to want to keep themselves ‘hidden’.   It’s like they’re afraid to let too much of their personality show.  But that’s a mistake.

To build rapport you have to open up a little and let people get to know you.  You don’t want them to think of you only as some obscure sales person.  You want them to know you.

So the next time you sit down to write an article, an email or some sales page, don’t forget to let your personality show through.  Not only will that make whatever you’re writing more interesting, it will also allow people to get to know, and hopefully like, the real you.

Mini-Site Videos Review

I’ve talked quite a bit about the different ways to earn  money online.  There are several.  One of the most talked about is niche marketing.  This is just finding a small subsection of a bigger market.  For example, instead of  targeting weight loss you would target weight loss for new moms.  This smaller niche will have a lot less competition but will still be very profitable.

To really earn money online and   benefit  from niche marketing you should promote several different niche products.  You will need to set up several different ‘mini-sites’ to promote each product.  It’s not really as hard as you may think and there is a brand new tool that can help.  Michael Rasmussen, an expert in mini-sites, has just put together a video series that can walk you through the process of getting your mini-sites up and running and making money.

This series provides easy to follow step by step instructions that even a newbie can follow and learn from.  And the best part, it’s free.  Don’t let that fool you though, just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’s not a great product.

If you want to start making money online, this is a great place to start.  Whenever you identify a great product you can have a mini-site set up with little time and money.  And once it’s set up you can make money largely on autopilot.

I’m impressed and I think you will be too.  Go check it out for yourself.  It’s free but if you put the information to use, you could make thousands of dollars (or more) with this powerful technique.

Start your own mini-site today.  Check out these great free videos so you can start making money online now!

Earn Money Online With A Stampede Of Traffic…

What are the 3 major components of an online business?  To earn money online  you need a product, a website, and traffic.  The first two are the easiest and cheapest to come up with.  But what about traffic?  What’s the best way to get it and keep it flowing?

The first thing y0u need to consider is that you don’t want just any traffic.   There are people who are online just killing time, curios about a certain subject.  That’s not the people you want to target.

Then there are the people who are ravenous about a subject.  Whether it’s learning to earn  money online, fishing, knitting, pets, etc.   If they are passionate about  a certain subject and interested in buying products related to that subject, those are the types of visitors you want to attract to your site.

There are a lot of ways to get website  traffic, some of them cost money and have a steep learning curve and some of them are free and easy to learn.

If you are a beginner I would strongly suggest that you stay away from all the Pay Per Click (PPC) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) courses that claim they’ll help you drive a ton of targeted traffic to your website practically overnight.

PPC is a great way to drive traffic to your website, but, it costs money.  Depending on your niche and how much competition there is it can cost a lot of money.  There is a definite ‘art’ to using PPC effectively.  You will have a steep learning curve and will most likely spend a lot of money with little success in the beginning.

SEO is a great way to get traffic to your website for free.  But like PPC there is a bit of a learning curve and to see results from your efforts takes time.

Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t ever use PPC or SEO.  They are great traffic generation methods, but because of the time and money involved in using them I think anyone who is just starting out would be better off spending their time learning free methods of traffic generation such as article marketing.

The free methods are just as good as getting targeted visitors to your site and they are easier to learn.  There is still a learning curve, but it’s not nearly as steep and since the method is free to do you have nothing to lose while you are learning.

So pick out your product, set up your website and then spend at least your first hour of every workday driving traffic to your website.  If you do this consistently over time you will start seeing a nice steady flow of traffic.

Once you have started to earn money online you should invest in a course that will teach you PPC and SEO.  Just hold off until you are actually making money, that way it won’t be so tough in the beginning when you are spending more than you are making.

Picking A Good Niche Market = Your Road To Riches…

Niche.  You hear people talking about it all the time.  But what does it mean and how can a niche help you make money?

The definition for niche is:’ pertaining to or intended for a market niche; having specific appeal: niche advertising’.

For the purposes of your online business think of niche like this: a group of people who share a common concern or a common goal.

And a good niche could be described as : a group of people who share a common concern or a common goal and they are ravenous or desperate for a product or service that will help them with their concerns and goals.

All you need is a ‘hungry’ crowd and something to ‘feed’ them and you’ll make money,  lot’s of it.

So, how do you find your niche?  Well the first place to start is to make a short list of some of the things you know a lot about, or are interested in learning more about.  Once you have a starting point go online to see how many websites there are on that topic.  You can also do a search of forums to get an idea of how many people are interested in that topic.

You should also consider getting the right training on the exact steps to finding hugely profitable niche markets. Finding a good niche isn’t hard, but there are some specific steps you will need to take if you want to  do it right.  After all, you don’t want to waste your valuable time promoting a product that just doesn’t have a very big market, do you?

There are some great free tools that you can use to narrow down a good niche market.  Google is one of the best.  They have a free keyword tool that you can use to identify good keywords, those with relatively high search volume and low competition.

Google trends can be another way to identify hot markets.

Once you’ve done your research and you know that there is a hungry market, now is the time to find a product to sell (or you could develop your own if you want).  Go to Clickbank.com and do a search for products in that niche that you could sell for a commission.

You could also go to Google and type in the name of your niche and use the + sign than the word affiliate.

For example: weight loss + affiliate

This will give you a listing of any product in that niche that has an affiliate program.

To really prosper from a niche do it the right way.  Find your profitable niche first, than worry about finding a product.  If they are hungry enough you will make money, period!

Should You Be Twittering?…

Twitter, Facebook you’ve heard of them.  They are the latest and greatest in online marketing.  Many online ‘gurus’ will tout web 2.0 as the best way to get a ton of traffic to your website.  The question is, does it work?

Yes and no.  It is never a bad idea to make online contacts and get your name out there.  But the majority of the people on these sites aren’t interested in your product or service.  They’re not ‘hungry’.  So you might get some additional traffic but it probably won’t help you build your bottom line that much.

It’s also way to easy to get on these sites and think that you’re ‘working’ while actually you’re just wasting time.  It’s very easy to get sidetracked and waste a lot of time without really accomplishing anything to further your online business.

While I’m not saying you shouldn’t try these methods I am saying that the payoff will probably be quite small and you shouldn’t take too much time away from other traffic generating activities.

So by all means Twitter and tweat, but don’t ignore your blog posts, article marketing and PPC.  Keep it in balance and you’ll be fine!
